Deputies respond to fatal accident on County Road 386

UPDATE 5:30 p.m. — 
 
County Road 386 has been reopened to traffic.
 
UPDATE 4:25 p.m. — 
 
A 50 year-old Marianna man was fatally injured in a single car accident that occurred on County Road 386 shortly after 1:30 p.m. CST on Tuesday.
 
According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 1990 white Ford Straight axle truck, was traveling north on County Road 386 attempting to negotiate a curve to the left.
 
“For unknown reasons at this time, (the truck) traveled off of the roadway to the right, onto the downgrade pitch soft shoulder,” the release read. “(The driver) attempted to steer (the truck) to the left, in hopes of returning to the roadway. (They) entered the curved roadway at a sharp angle and began to overturn while crossing over both lanes and entering the west ditch.”
 
The driver was reported to have been ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
 
A 42 year-old Campbellton man, the truck’s passenger, is reported to have been seriously injured in the accident.
 
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office, Gulf County Emergency Medical Services and Overstreet Volunteer Fire Department.

Deputies and first responders are on the scene of a traffic accident on County Road 386 north of the Overstreet Bridge involving a fatality.
 
The road is currently closed between Roberts Landing Road and Whitfield Landing Road. All motorist should plan to use an alternate route.
 
The Florida Highway Patrol is enroute to investigate the crash. Any further information pertaining to the accident will be released by their agency.
