Winter Bay Day

Friends of St. Joseph Bay Preserves present a day of education, shrimp and music. Learn about the preserve, birds, and life along the bay. Explore on a guided tram tour through the backwoods trails of the Buffer Preserve and learn about the native animal and plant life: 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. EST.

Crooked River Park Fest Saturday

The Crooked River Lighthouse in Carrabelle will host its first-ever Crooked River Park Fest this Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Following an extended Country Farmer’s Market until 3 p.m. festivities continue with a special benefit Full Moon concert from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring live music. Guests can also be among the first to see the new, interactive exhibit for the lighthouse’s original Fresnel lens now housed in a new automated steel lighthouse tower-inspired case. Black History Month starts this weekend

Black History Month, celebrated for 20 years in Apalachicola by H’COLA, opens Thursday, Feb. 2 with a 5:30 p.m. housing workshop at Holy Family Senior Center. The kickoff is Saturday, Feb. 4 at 5 p.m. at Holy Family, where the Royal Court will be crowned, the Grand Marshal introduced, and H’COLA founding members, and law enforcement, honored. On Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Apalachicola library, a Reading In Black program features African American community leaders sharing prose and poetry.

Salt Air Farmers Market

Shop local farmers and artisans. Let your family enjoy art pieces and the amazing flavors of fresh veggies, sweet Tupelo Honey and vine-ripened fruit. The Salt Air Farmers Market is open the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST in downtown Port St. Joe.

A salute to Coltrane Sunday 

This Sunday afternoon, Feb. 5, a tribute to jazz great John Coltrane will be performed by Leon Anderson and his Jazz Ensemble at 4 p.m. at Apalachicola’s Trinity Episcopal Church,. Part of the 2023 concert season of the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts, concert tickets are $20 per person and available in advance at www.inconcertapalachicola.org or at the door the day of the concert.
